WEEDON SURGERY NEWSLETTER
May 2008

Welcome to Dr Marina Rookledge
From May 1st Dr Williams is reducing her hours and will be working on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. Dr Rookledge will be working on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Dr Rookledge is 40 years old and has lived in Newnham since 1992. She qualified from St Thomas’s Hospital, London in 1990 and did most of her hospital jobs in Northampton and her GP training in Daventry. She was a partner in Daventry for 5 years before deciding in 2003 to take a career break to look after her young family.
She is married to Mark, a GP in Long Buckby, and has two children; Caroline (7 years old) and George (5 years old); also a rather mad Springer Spaniel. She has been a locum since returning to work two years ago and is looking forward to joining Weedon Surgery in May. She enjoys family medicine, with a special interest in Women’s Health and Paediatrics.
New Opening Times
Our patient survey and the Patient Participation Group have indicated that patients who commute sometimes have difficulty accessing our surgery for non urgent problems during our normal opening hours. Although only a small proportion of patients fall into this category, we have decided to extend our opening hours until 8.15pm on Mondays and Thursdays to meet that need. Reception will be open as usual during these times. There will be a limited number of Doctor appointments only which can be booked in the usual way. If all appointment slots are filled urgent problems will still be handled by Snowdoc. Visit requests will also be covered by Snowdoc.
Confidentiality
We provide a confidential service to all our patients, including under 16s. This means that you can tell others about a visit to the surgery but we will not. We will only release information from your medical records with your written authority. The only reason why we might have to consider passing on confidential information, without your permission, would be to protect you or someone else from serious harm. We would always try to discuss this with you first.
If you are being treated elsewhere, for example at a hospital or family planning clinic, it is best if you allow the doctor or nurse to inform the practice of any treatment you are receiving. If you have any worries about confidentiality, please feel free to ask a member of staff.
