REMEMBER YOU CAN ORDER YOUR REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS AND BOOK YOUR NON-URGENT APPOINTMENTS ONLINE
This is an additional service known as emisaccess which was set up in 2007. You may still order repeat prescriptions by telephone, fax, letter or in person and make appointments by telephone or in person. To use the service you will need to register at reception. You have to be over 16 years of age to use and register for this service. Parents cannot register for their children. You have to register in person and not for anyone else. To register you will be required to confirm your identity by showing us an identity document. This needs to be an original not a photocopy. The document must be in your current name and show your current address. Acceptable identity documents would be a valid passport, driving licence, NHS card or a recent utility bill.
You will be given a PIN number to access the service and then be required to create your own password to make access to the service secure and confidential. The PIN number and your password enables you to access your repeat prescriptions and the appointment system but no other part of your medical record.
The appointments you can book are non urgent for Doctors only. You will be able to book appointments from 2 days ahead to 2 months ahead. Urgent appointments, appointments within 2 working days and appointments with Nurses must still be made by telephone or in person. Repeat Prescription requests will still require 48 hours notice.

FOCUS ON HEALTH
Daventry and District Voluntary Area Group of Diabetes UK
www.daventry-and-district.diabetesukgroup.org
Daventry & District Area Group hold regular monthly meetings in the Seminar Room at Danetre Hospital, Daventry, usually on the second Monday of the month at 7.30pm. We wel- come all those with diabetes, their friends and anyone else interested in aspects of diabetes care.
Our meetings offer a forum in which we are able to meet a variety of specialist health profes- sionals who inform people about diabetic issues in a friendly and informal manner, and offer the opportunity for people with diabetes to share their experiences and, often, their anxie- ties.
Over the past year our fund-raising activities have allowed us to offer financial assistance to children and their families enabling them to attend special holidays in the county, where they and their families can learn more about living with diabetes and how to manage the con- dition on a day to day basis.
We have also funded diabetes educational courses run by health professionals for local peo- ple with both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, which enable them to manage their condition better and thus helping to avoid long term complications and crises, necessitating costly medical in- tervention.
Our recent 'adopt- a- project' initiative allowed us to donate £1000 towards ongoing retinal screening and research.
Local and national policy towards the provision of better diabetic services and the need to en- sure that best practice is maintained by health service providers in the local area have also been a major concern to us. To this end we have a Group Representative at patient consulta- tive meetings with the Northamptonshire Teaching PCT to help shape the future development of services for people with diabetes
It is our hope that, by involving ourselves in all the above, Daventry and District Area Group, in partnership with local health professionals, can continue to serve the interests of all of those in our area with diabetes and to raise awareness both of diabetes itself and of our exis- tence as a "helping hand" to those for whom this condition is an ever-present factor in their lives.
Meetings are free to attend and are open to all.
